Quilt Shop Hop June 2018

The Road to Oklahoma Quilt Shop Hop June 2018 started the first of June with 23 participating stores.  You can check out which stores are participating here.  I have attended almost half of them, but will have to stop.  Time is running out.

I caught up with a friend and went to a couple of the stores in her area of the state.  We went to one store and then stopped to have lunch.  Then off we drove to the next adventure.  Next stop was was Quilt Nuts in downtown Sand Springs.  It is a quaint little store with several small displays of projects all throughout the store and outside.  Several fabrics and projects spoke to me.  One group of fabric, which I ended purchasing a few pieces, was a delightful pink and turquoise color combination outlined in silver from Australia.  It was simple yet exquisite.  I decided to use it for an upcoming project, which I will share later this summer.  What a fabulous time we had.  Next Saturday, my friend will join me in the OKC area.

My friend drove to my house and once again we headed out to the quilt stores in my area.  We ended up visiting seven different stores.  It was a full, fun day of looking, shopping, talking, and enjoying great company.  We started on the north part and made our way to the west and then south.  We stopped to enjoy a delicious lunch, but continued on to the rest of the stores.  There were a few of them that I hadn’t been to either so it made it fun to stop and see what everyone had.  My friend picked up a couple of pieces she liked for a couple of projects she is working on.  Again, another fun filled day.

A few days after the Quilt Shop Hop, I found in my stash of papers from many years ago this creed and decided it was worth sharing.  My friend is new to quilting so my role is to support and encourage her, which I believe I did!  Thanks friend for a great couple of days!

Fabricholics Creed

I do soberly promise:  to share with my fellow fabricholics all the best sales, be it fabric or craft; to continually educate myself in new techniques of fabric use, fabric sale detection, fabric hiding, and receipt destruction.  I will consistently spread my disease to others, teaching them, that they may be perfect in their affliction.  I declare my intent to visit fabric stores for at least bi-monthly fix, even if only to see, touch and drool over new products.  Although I will face criticism, punishment (i.e., removal of credit card and check writing privileges), and all manner of persecution, I will hold fast to my fabricholics creed!  by Anita & Mysal Liverman, Huntsville, Alabama Chapter of the American Sewing Guild

I hope you enjoyed the Fabricholics Creed.  Let me know in the comments below.  Now to enjoy making the projects and admiring the results!

Until next time,

Dawn

  1. This friend loved it!! She also truly appreciates your generous tutelage in fabricology and all things “Quilt”! I’m blessed by your knowledge and kinship. Now time to plan a quilt retreat together again! Safe travels!

  2. I would love to see photos of your fabric that has the silver in it. It sounds like you had great fun shopping together.
