Happy New Year 2020! New Opportunities!

Welcome 2020! Happy New Year! New Opportunities!

Welcome 2020!

It’s a New Year and with a New Year brings many new opportunities! So Welcome 2020 and a new decade! Let’s decide today to live life abundantly and with joy! Everyday! No matter what happens! Like you, I have had my share of difficulties over the last year, and am sure we will have difficulties in the new year. However, I’m learning it is how we react to the difficulties. I’m learning not to let them define me. Life is a journey not a destination. This is something I keep hearing, and I think it’s beginning to sink in. Maybe! Mistakes and failures and difficulties are a part of life. So let’s begin this new year by accepting and acknowledging they will be happening along the way.

If you want to succeed, you have to let failure be your best friend!

Failure or Growth?

Some of you may know that I taught middle schoolers at a new school this last August. My passion is to teach and my favorite subject is anything to do with Family and Consumer Sciences (aka, Home Economics). It was a new program and I could start from scratch and make it my own. The only thing was because of being a new program there wasn’t supplies and nothing had been bought yet (because the money wasn’t quite available). The schedule was revamped about three times and new administration was sent in 2 1/2 weeks into the school year. There was no order, and nothing in place to create order. It was difficult for a newbie (like myself). Staying for the whole school year was the goal; however, after much deliberation, I decided to make it to the end of the semester.

New Opportunities

Choosing to not go back after the Christmas break to teach has created many emotions as well as some new opportunities. Lots of tension disappeared. Not all of the teaching experience was difficult, though. There were many wonderful students and teachers, which I miss. It’s been important to give myself the time to acknowledge the loss and to grieve. So now to share the new opportunities. First, I have been decluttering my overpacked house. Started with my bathroom and then moved to my bedroom, however, I got stuck with going through old papers. Yuck! How long do we need to keep old paystubs? Don’t tell anyone, but I had kept almost everyone of my old paystubs from my first job out of college which I started 30 years ago in February. It was great to finally throw away some things and let go. I already feel much lighter!

Exciting News

The second and exciting opportunity is I have opened an Etsy shop, https://www.etsy.com/shop/DCCreativeSewing or the name is DCCreativeSewing. It will feature many of my handmade projects and patterns. It is taking some time to get the projects up on the site so check back often for new items! Please stop by and like the shop. You can also follow me on Instagram @dc_creative-sewing, and on Facebook.com/DawnsCreativeSewingLiving. I will also be featuring the Design Dream team, and their quilting patterns. More information to come as to who they are and their fabulous works of art. I’m gathering their photos and bios now and will have them up soon. It is an exciting adventure, however, it is a bit overwhelming also! So thankful for encouraging friends and family!

Life with Jesus is a journey!

Last Thing

Finally, there continues to be opportunities to learn and grow into the person I believe God has called me to be. It is frustrating many days, and I don’t really know what I am doing or going to do, but I also have a sense of peace knowing I don’t have to know. Jesus is with me in every situation and circumstance I have ever been in and will be. A favorite author, Emily P. Freeman, says, “When it comes to creativity and life with God, your pace is your pace and there’s no such thing as behind.” And so I keep showing up and taking the next step, even though it seems slow. I have the freedom to be who I am, which is a complex, introverted INFJ woman created by the Most High God. Life with Jesus is a journey! Join me, won’t you?
