Study shows sewing is relaxing
According to the American Home Sewing and Craft Association in the 1990’s, a study reveals that sewing is relaxing and good for you. Sewing helps to reduce stress. Experienced sewists as well as beginning sewists show a significant drop in two key factors in measuring stress. The two factors are heart rate and blood pressure.
There are other benefits to sewing besides just reducing stress. These include feeling proud of creating something special, and exercising creativity. Also, appreciating the compliments received, and being able to have something that is one of a kind. Finally, giving yourself permission to enjoy your time sewing.
During this pandemic, many have found sewing again. Sewing masks or making things for their homes. Many are enjoying sewing once again, and enjoying all the many benefits. If you find this time of life too hectic, then think about sewing, quilting, embroidering or crocheting. Take some time out for relaxing and enjoying all or one of the many benefits of sewing.

Sewing Tips
In an earlier post, Murphy’s Law of Sewing is listed. It is a fun read, and full of great tips. Also, here is a fabulous thread tip. If you can’t match the thread to the fabric, then choose a darker shade. When it is stitched it will look lighter.
Well until next time . . . keep those machines buzzing!
