Start Believing and Refuse the lies
80 Days of Encouragement Day 2
Welcome back to 80 Days of Encouragement Day 2! I’m continuing this series on encouraging ourselves during trying and difficult days. If you missed yesterday’s posting, it was the beginning of the eighty days which you can read here. Along the way, the goal is to start believing who we are in Christ and refusing the lies. The lies can be constant and debilitating. Yesterday, we looked at “We can”. We have the power to demolish the lies.
What are we demolishing?
In looking at 2 Corinthians 10:5 (TPT), (which you can find here) “We can demolish every deceptive fantasy that opposes God and break through every arrogant attitude that is raised up in defiance of the true knowledge of God”. So we can pull down, tear down, bring down, destroy, flatten, and put an end to every deceptive thought, fantasy, or argument conflicting with God, including His character. Also, we can break through every exaggerated sense of one’s own importance, abilities or attitudes that is in a daring or bold resistance of the true knowledge of God.
The language used in The Passion Translation isn’t nice at all. Matter of fact, it is quite convicting. I don’t think I’m arguing with God by not taking my thoughts captive. Or, exaggerating my own importance over the true knowledge of God. But when I look at the lies I believe against what God says, then these words in these verses are fairly accurate. Thank you, Jesus, for Romans 8:1 (TPT), “So now the case is closed. There remains no accusing voice of condemnation against those who are joined in life-union with Jesus, the Anointed One.”
Capturing and Insisting during 80 Days of Encouragement
The rest of the verse, 2 Corinthians 10:5 says, “We capture, like prisoners of war, every thought and insist that it bow in obedience to the Anointed One.” So this is where we have a choice. We can let the thoughts run rampant or we can capture them. Once we capture them, then we want to insist they line up with what God says. If they do not, then we need to let them go. I remember someone telling me that every thought coming into your mind doesn’t have to be entertained. Many of them just need to pass on through. I know this is easier to say then doing it regularly, but this is one reason for these posts. To be able to encourage each other in letting go of the lies and believing who God says we are!
Early this morning before completely waking up, a song was going through my head. The song was “You are a good, good Father”. This last Sunday, we heard that learning takes place in the subconscious. So waking up to “You are a good, good Father” is a good indication learning is taking place. Hope you are waking up to songs being song over you. Ask for them! Let me know what changes you are experiencing!
Until tomorrow, keep capturing and insisting,
Dawn
